Voluntary blood donation: Practical action for the community

May 15, at Tra Vinh University, the 4th Voluntary Blood Donation Day, 2021, is organized by the TVU Youth Union – Student Union in collaboration with Can Tho Hematology Blood Transfusion Hospital and other organizations. The result received nearly 350 units of blood.

Spreading the spirit of volunteerism

Over the years, the voluntary blood donation movement to save lives has developed widely in Tra Vinh University and Tra Vinh province in general. The voluntary blood donation movement has achieved very encouraging results, contributing to health care for patients.

Ms. Pham Le Phuong Thao, Head of the TVU Voluntary Blood Donation Club, said: The Covid-19 epidemic across the country has complicated, leads to a shortage of blood reserves, which is the prime cause affecting treatment in hospitals. 

She calls on union members and young people to actively participate in voluntary blood donation, and at the same time, strengthen propaganda and dissemination of the meaning of voluntary blood donation activities for everyone to know and understand better about this activity.

 

From awareness to action

Tran Duy Khanh, a student of Office Administration Class of 2020, said: “I know that TVU organizes voluntary blood donation, so I decided to participate. I hope everyone is aware of the importance of blood donation and act as soon as we can to help needy patients in need of blood.”

Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, Deputy Secretary of the TVU Youth Union, President of the TVU Student Union, said that today is meaningful in life. With 27 times of voluntary blood donation at TVU, he hopes that every drop of his blood can contribute to a life source saving for patients in difficult circumstances.

For the first time participating in voluntary blood donation, Nguyen Thi My An, a student of the Preschool Education Class of 2020, said: This morning, I woke up very early to comfortably participate in the voluntary blood donation. I see that makes a practical contribution to saving the lives of patients. In the future, I would like to often participate in blood donation.

TVU mobilizes more than 1000 blood units each year. Since then, there have appeared many typical examples creating beautiful images in voluntary blood donation activities at Tra Vinh University like Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, Deputy Secretary of the TVU Youth Union, President of the TVU Student Union; Ms. Dao Nhu Thao, Standing Member of the TVU Youth Union, Standing Vice President of the Student Union; Nguyen Cao Chanh, a student of the Civil Law University class 2018; Tran Huu Danh, a student of the General Medical University class of 2015, etc.
