On September 27, Tra Vinh University, in collaboration with the Women’s Empowerment and Voice (WEAV) organization in Vietnam, awards the WEAV Scholarships for the 2025–2026 academic year to disadvantaged female students from Tra Vinh University (TVU) and Vinh Long College (VLC).
The activity provides meaningful support to female students, helping them overcome difficulties in their studies and pursue their education with confidence.

The scholarship award ceremony featured Dr. Dang Thi Ngoc Lan, Director of the WEAV Scholarship Fund in Vietnam; Ms. Le Thi Thanh My, Ms. Tran Thi Bach Tuyen, and Mr. Ho Chi Viet, members of the WEAV Scholarship Fund; and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam, Secretary of the Youth Union of VLC.
Attendees from TVU included Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector; Ms. Tran Thi Cuc, Head of the Department of Student Affairs; Mr. Pham Quoc Khanh, Deputy Head of the Department of Student Affairs; Ms. Nguyen Thi My Hanh, Deputy Chief of Office of the College of Southern Khmer Language – Culture – Arts and Humanity; along with 40 students from both TVU and VLC.

Expressing her gratitude to the Scholarship Fund’s Board of Directors, Dr. Thach Thi Dan, TVU Vice Rector, emphasized that the fund holds profound significance as it demonstrates genuine care for disadvantaged female students, particularly those of Khmer ethnicity. She noted that the scholarships have long been a source of encouragement, empowering recipients to persevere in their studies. Many graduates, she added, have since secured stable employment and built promising careers.
At the ceremony, representatives of WEAV awarded 20 scholarships to female students of TVU, each worth 3.9 million VND, and 20 scholarships to female students of VLC, each worth 2.6 million VND. The total scholarship value awarded was 130 million VND.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Dang Thi Ngoc Lan, Director of the WEAV Scholarship Fund in Vietnam, shared the purpose of establishing the scholarship fund: “It is to bring more benefits to women, giving them greater opportunities for education and employment. Especially for young female students, who play many roles in society, the fund helps them find their own voice, enriching family life and contributing to community development.”
On behalf of the 40 scholarship recipients, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen, a student from the 2022 Hotel Management program, expressed her deep gratitude to the WEAV Scholarship Fund for creating opportunities that support disadvantaged female students in continuing their studies with peace of mind.
Mr. Pham Quoc Khanh, Deputy Head of the Deputy Head of the Department of Student Affairs, noted that over more than 10 years (from 2014 to 2025), the WEAV Scholarship has sponsored over 275 female students of TVU, with a total funding of more than 638.25 million VND. This has contributed to promoting the learning society movement and the continuous development of education.

The WEAV Scholarship, initiated by the “Women’s Empowerment and Voice” organization in Vietnam, aims to encourage the learning spirit of disadvantaged female students who, despite challenges, have persevered in pursuing education and achieved good academic results.
