TVU – On October 31, Tra Vinh University partnered with Vietnamese-German University (VGU) to organize the International Workshop “Good Practices in Library Management,” attracting many experts, library managers, lecturers, and information-library staff from both domestic and international institutions.

International delegates attending the workshop included Associate Professor Maria Cynthia T. Pelena and Ms. Rhea Joy T. Fernandez from Central Philippine University, Philippines; Ms. Geanrose L. Colonia from Southern Leyte State University, Philippines; Ms. Maria Angie T. Suarez Del Real from Samar State University, Philippines; Ms. Saifon Taokaew from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand; Ms. Shameem Nilofar Maideen from Singapore Management University; and Dr. Maychelle M. Nugas from Southeastern Philippines University.

Representatives from domestic universities included Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Tri, Library Director at Vietnamese-German University; Mr. Tony Tin, Director of Library and Learning Resources, and Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hao, Academic Librarian at VinUni; along with library leaders from educational institutions such as Ho Chi Minh City Banking University, Thai Nguyen University of Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City National University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dong Thap University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, and many other universities.
The workshop received support from Sao Mai Education Group and CDIMEX. Representing Sao Mai Education Group were Ms. Doan Thi Diem Trang, Marketing Manager, and Ms. Dinh Vo Thi Ngoc Huyen, Member of the Board of Directors and Deputy General Director.
From Tra Vinh University, Associate Professor Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Vice Rector, delivered the online opening remarks, and Dr. Tieu Thanh Thuy, Director of the Center of Excellence in Learning Resources and Innovation (CELRAS), attended along with the university’s lecturers and library staff.
In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University, emphasized the crucial role of libraries in supporting learning, research, and digital transformation in higher education. The Vice Rector stated that the workshop provides an opportunity for managers, lecturers, and international experts to exchange experiences, introduce practical models, and promote international cooperation in the information library field.


The workshop included 10 presentations divided into two working sessions (morning and afternoon), focusing on discussions about innovation, sharing experiences, and introducing practical models in library management.
Notable presentations included “Shaping Learning Through Innovation: The Henry Luce III Library Experience,” presented by Associate Professor Maria Cynthia T. Pelena and Ms. Rhea Joy T. Fernandez, sharing experiences in innovating library operations to promote creative learning and enhance academic service effectiveness. “From Traditional Library Services to Academic and Research Support: The Transformation Journey of Tra Vinh University,” presented by Dr. Tieu Thanh Thuy and Ms. Huynh Nhu introduced the transformation journey from a traditional library to an academic and research support model. “Empowering Libraries through Good Practices: A Journey of Transformation,” presented by Ms. Saifon Taokaew focused on good practices for enhancing library capacity in the digital era. “Partnerships for the Goals: From a State-of-the-Art Library to Transformation and Inclusivity,” presented by Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Tri, introduced a partnership model for developing modern libraries that fosters transformation and inclusivity. “From Archives to AI: A Good Practice Model for Libraries in Managing and Promoting Institutional Legacy” presented by Mr. Tony Tin and Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hao introduced a model for applying artificial intelligence in managing and promoting the academic legacy value of institutions.

The presentations provided multidimensional perspectives, clarifying trends in innovation and digital transformation in university library operations while sharing numerous practical experiences for enhancing management effectiveness and library development within the context of modern higher education.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Tieu Thanh Thuy emphasized the importance of applying good practices in library management, digital transformation, and innovation to enhance the quality of library and learning resource services, affirming Tra Vinh University’s commitment to promoting international cooperation, sharing knowledge, and sustainably developing library services to effectively serve teaching, research, and learning activities in the digital age.


On this occasion, the organizing committee presented certificates and souvenirs to speakers, acknowledging their contributions to the program’s success.
