TVU – On the evening of November 12, the School of Economics and Law coordinated with the Department of Legal Affairs and Internal Inspection to organize the 12th mock trial in 2025, combined with propaganda and dissemination of legal education at Tra Vinh University.

The program had the attendance of Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University; Dr. Nguyen Minh Trung, Head of the Department of Legal Affairs and Internal Inspection; Dr. Huynh Thi Truc Linh, Vice Principal of the School of Economics and Law; and representatives of the leaders of the Departments, Offices, and Centers under Tra Vinh University.

Speaking at the session, Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University, said: “After 12 years of organization, the mock trial is an annual activity of the School of Economics and Law. It is a helpful playground and an indispensable part of the curriculum for law students aiming at the perfect development of legal skills, including reading skills, research, document analysis, procedural knowledge, litigation skills, and trial control skills, helping students become acquainted with the legal environment and practice practical skills relevant to the subject.
Highlights in the dissemination of legal education for students
Instead of the previous form of written propaganda, the forms of moral education and lifestyle for students, propaganda, dissemination, and legal education have been diversified and more vividly through mock trials, helping students easily access and acquire legal knowledge, voluntarily comply with the law, and contribute to the dissemination of maintaining security, order, and general safety for society.
Presenting the topic “Strengthening solutions to disseminate, propagate and educate the law for students” at the Conference on disseminating, thoroughly grasping and implementing the Party’s guidelines and policies, legal documents on political education tasks and student affairs organized by the Ministry of Education and Training on October 30, 2025, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Ha, Deputy Director of the Legal Department, emphasized: “Legal education in schools needs to be strongly restructured in the direction of developing practical capacity, helping learners understand, apply and comply with the law in daily life, not only stopping at theory in books. In particular, the mock trial creates a vivid simulation space, helping students to “experience” legal situations directly.
At Tra Vinh University, the dissemination and education of the law holds a vital position in the work of educating ethics and lifestyle. Living and working according to the Constitution and the law is a crucial criterion that demonstrates a civilized lifestyle. Therefore, educating union members and young people to be aware of and comply with the law is an essential activity.
Legal education from books linked to life
Achieving the quality of international education accreditation FIBAA, the Law training program at Tra Vinh University is built in a research-oriented manner, meeting the needs of employers and related parties, aiming to train students with basic knowledge of social sciences, politics, information technology, foreign languages and law, with the ability to apply legal expertise to professional activities and apply well the necessary skills at work.

The mock trial lasted about 90 minutes, recreated in the form of dramatization as a real case, with the content of the first instance trial of a criminal case on the crime of “Allowing an unqualified person to drive a vehicle to participate in road traffic”, according to the provisions of Article 264 of the Penal Code.
In the mock trial, the presiding judge, the people’s jury, the representative of the Procuracy, the court secretary, the lawyer representing the defendant, the representative of the victim’s family, and the witness are all played by Law students. The main components implemented in the mock trial include the opening procedure, the questioning procedure, the debate procedure, deliberation, and the verdict. With the prosecutor’s profound and tightly argued points, the lawyer’s logical defenses, and the jury’s transparency and impartiality during the trial.

Representing a real trial, the mock trial presents a vivid and authentic form of propaganda, conveying the message “Living and working according to the Constitution and the law.”

Dr. Phan Minh Gioi, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Law, School of Economics and Law, said: “The mock trial is a highly interactive form of propaganda; the proceedings of the trial fully reflect the details of the actual case with vivid content, making it engaging for viewers.”
This program provides students with the opportunity to explore and gain a deeper understanding of the legal provisions related to the trial topic. Thereby, raising awareness, understanding of the law, and a sense of law compliance for students, contributing to bringing the law to life.

At the end of the trial, the Organizing Committee awarded First, Second, Third, and Encouragement prizes to the students who played the best roles and gave gifts to fans who correctly predicted the outcome of the trial.
The mock trial is an annual activity of a high professional level for Law students. This year’s mock trial took place in response to Vietnam Law Day. Thereby, propagating and popularizing legal education among students and lecturers, and creating a professional training environment for Law students.
