On November 9, Tra Vinh University organized the first “Talented Student Performing Arts Competition” in 2025, attracting many lecturers and students who love theater arts. This is a beneficial platform that encourages students to develop their creative abilities and honors school cultural values, especially through three main competition categories: Traditional Southern Folk Karaoke Singing, Dance, and Drama Sketches.
Representing Tra Vinh University were Ms. Tran Thi Cuc, Head of the Student Affairs Office, and Mr. Pham Quoc Khanh, Deputy Head of the Student Affairs Office.
The competition’s judging panel included Mr. Bui Vinh Khang, former Head of the Traditional Folk Music and Reformed Opera Club, serving as Deputy Head of the Judging Panel; Ms. Thach Thi Ut Linh, Deputy Head of the Gender and Ethnic Affairs Department; Mr. Nguyen Hong Phuc, former Deputy Head of the Culture and Arts Club at Tra Vinh University; and Ms. Pham Thi Luom, Deputy Director of Pham Cong Danh Consulting, Design and Construction Co., Ltd., and Champion of the “2024 Tra Vinh University Staff Karaoke Singing Competition.”

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Pham Quoc Khanh emphasized that the competition aims to honor and promote school cultural values while encouraging students to develop their creative abilities and express themselves through the arts. Mr. Khanh expressed pride in the enthusiastic participation and efforts of the contestants, and affirmed the importance of developing artistic talents in student life.
All competition categories revolve around the theme “School Culture – Happy School,” reflecting the creative spirit, dynamism and love of the arts among Tra Vinh University students. The Traditional Southern Folk Karaoke Singing category specially honors the traditional art of Southern Vietnam, specifically Don ca tai tu (Southern Amateur Music), an intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO. The performances show depth and strong local character, giving the audience deeply moving moments of traditional music. The Dance category brings a vibrant atmosphere with modern and creative dance moves, reflecting the dynamism of students in their learning environment. The Drama Sketches category features lively performances that skillfully incorporate messages about school culture and love of the arts in student life.

Speaking about the Traditional Southern Folk Karaoke Singing category, Mr. Bui Vinh Khang, former Head of the Traditional Folk Music and Reformed Opera Club, commented that the performances deeply demonstrate the students’ grasp of Don ca tai tu art. This is an encouraging sign for the preservation and promotion of Southern cultural heritage among the younger generation.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Phuc, former Deputy Head of the Culture and Arts Club at Tra Vinh University, also praised the song, dance and drama performances, stating: “These performances provide entertainment and also convey humanistic messages about love, solidarity and students’ responsibility to the community.”





At the end of the competition, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to outstanding contestants and teams, recognizing their creativity and efforts in the competition categories. Specifically, in the Traditional Southern Folk Karaoke Singing category, first prize went to Nguyen Ngo Hoang Nam (DA24RHMA), second prize went to Nguyen Phung Ngoc Han (DA24ANH), and third prize went to the duet performance by Nguyen Phung Ngoc Han (DA24ANH) and Sy Ngoc Thien Kim (DA22ANH). Consolation prizes went to Huynh Quoc Ton (VX23NNA1), Tran Minh Thinh (DA23QLNN), Nguyen Long Nhan (DA23QKDTH), the duet of Huynh Quoc Ton (VX23NNA1) and Sy Ngoc Thien Kim (DA22ANH), and Nguyen Huynh Ai Quyen (DA25TTC).
In the Dance category, first prize went to the OneStep group, second prize went to the Seismic Crew group, third prize went to the Sweet Steps group, and the consolation prize went to the Self-Managed Student Team.
For the Drama Sketches category, first prize went to the Self-Managed Student Team (DA25QVB), third prize went to unit DA25VH, and consolation prizes went to units DA25NNAB, DA25MTC/DA25XYHA, and DA24TTC. Notably, the Best Actor Award went to Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung (DA25XYHB).
