Tra Vinh University opens National Defense and Security Education course for 2025-2026 academic year

On November 10, the Center for National Defense and Security Education at Tra Vinh University held the opening ceremony for the National Defense and Security Education course for the 2025-2026 academic year, welcoming students from Tra Vinh University.

Attending the ceremony were Senior Colonel Tran Van Kha, Deputy Chief of Staff of Vinh Long Province Military Command; Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Minh Toan, Deputy Commander of Infantry Regiment 926; Lieutenant Colonel Trang Hoang Hai, Deputy Chief of Staff of Area Defense Command 1 Nguyet Hoa; and representatives from military units participating in teaching.

Representing Tra Vinh University were Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector; Mr. Tran Van Trong, former Vice Rector and former Director of the Center for National Defense and Security Education, currently serving as professional advisor to the Center; representatives from various offices and departments; lecturers from the Center for National Defense and Security Education; and 874 students representing 3,345 students in the entire course.

Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University, stated that national defense and security education is an important component of nationwide education work, contributing to building and defending the Fatherland. The course equips students with basic knowledge of national defense and security, cultivates a patriotic spirit, civic responsibility awareness, and necessary military skills. The Vice Rector also expressed gratitude to Vinh Long Province Military Command, Regiment 926, cooperating units, and the staff, lecturers and students of Tra Vinh University who have worked hard in organizing and ensuring learning and living conditions for students throughout the course.

At the program, Mr. Tran Trong Khiem, Deputy Head of the Training, Student Management, and Professional Development Department at the Center for National Defense and Security Education, announced the decision to establish student management companies for Tra Vinh University students participating in the National Defense and Security Education course for the 2025-2026 academic year. According to the plan, for the 2025-2026 academic year, the Center for National Defense and Security Education at Tra Vinh University will organize teaching for 3,345 students divided into four sessions, each session ranging from 601 to 1,123 students, taking place from November 10, 2025 to January 31, 2026. Students will study at two locations: Tra Vinh University and Battalion 501 – Regiment 926, Vinh Long Province Military Command. During each session, students will concentrate on residential activities and training for 10-11 days; the remaining time will focus on theoretical and practical learning according to the Center’s plan. The course helps students receive management and training according to military regulations, forming disciplined working styles, teamwork skills, sense of responsibility, and organizational awareness in a collective environment.

Representing the Company Management Board, Mr. Thach Thanh Tien, Commander of Company 2, introduced the company and explained the course regulations, emphasizing the spirit of solidarity, discipline and responsibility in students’ training throughout their study period at the Center.

Representing students participating in the course, Le Thi Cam Tien, a student in class DA25LQLC, expressed her honor to participate in the course and committed to study and train seriously, comply well with regulations, promote the spirit of solidarity, and strive to excellently complete learning tasks, worthy of the love and trust of family, school and Fatherland.

National Defense and Security Education is a mandatory course in the university training program that cultivates political qualities, morality, solidarity spirit and disciplinary awareness for students. Through the learning and training process, students receive basic knowledge and skills about national defense, contributing to building a young intellectual workforce with resilience, responsibility and readiness to participate in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
