On the afternoon of January 8, 2026, Tra Vinh University successfully organized the seminar “5S application – A Modern Management Method in Engineering and Technology Training” with the participation of the University’s leadership, representatives of the YAZAKI EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. branch in Tra Vinh, and nearly 50 officials and lecturers from Tra Vinh University.
Attending the program were Mr. Asai Toru – Head of Production Engineering Department; Ms. Nguyen Hong Chau – Head of TQM Department; Ms. Duong Thi Cuc – Head of the 5S Promotion Committee, along with members of the YAZAKI EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. branch in Tra Vinh; leaders and lecturers of the School of Engineering and Technology; and the Community Service Center.

Representing the enterprise, Mr. Asai Toru – Head of the Production Engineering Department – expressed his gratitude to Tra Vinh University for providing the opportunity to facilitate collaboration between the University and businesses and for its support in providing high-quality human resources to the company. He hoped to continue maintaining and expanding cooperation with the school.

Dr. Huynh Tan Thanh – Vice Principal of the School of Engineering and Technology – emphasized the important role of the 5S management model in building a standardized learning and practice environment, thereby improving teaching capacity and industrial work ethics among lecturers and students.

In addition, Ms. Phung Thi Phuong Khanh – Director of the Community Service Center, also expressed her profound gratitude to the delegation from YAZAKI EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. branch in Tra Vinh for their collaboration with the school in applying 5S to engineering and technology training, as well as their support in cooperative training activities, contributing to improving the quality of human resources in the province and the region.
During the program, Ms. Duong Thi Cuc – Head of the 5S Promotion Board, YAZAKI EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd., branch in Tra Vinh, introduced an overview of the 5S method – a renowned Japanese management model that brings high efficiency in labor organization, improves production quality, and fosters a professional corporate culture.

Lecturers asked questions about topics such as the inspection process during 5S implementation, the criteria for evaluating 5S in businesses, the process of screening and adjusting criteria to suit each department, and how to handle issues that arise during implementation.

On this occasion, officials and lecturers from Tra Vinh University visited several departments at the YAZAKI EDS Vietnam branch that are implementing the 5S model. There, lecturers directly observed the working environment and learned about the continuous maintenance and improvement process, the zoning method, work standardization, and the evaluation of 5S implementation effectiveness. The field trip allowed lecturers to gain a vivid, practical experience, observe real-world operations, and learn from operating a 5S system in a business environment.
The seminar “5S application – A Modern Management Method in Engineering and Technology Training” was a practical activity contributing to promoting cooperation between the University and businesses; expanding practical knowledge for lecturers in the engineering and technology fields; guiding the implementation of 5S in teaching, practice, and workshop management at the University of Engineering and Technology; and spreading the spirit of continuous improvement and industrial work ethic in higher education.
The seminar took place in an open atmosphere, with positive professional exchange, and received high praise from both sides.
