Tra Vinh University Youth Union wins overall First Prize at 2026 Youth Union Sports Festival

TVU – After two days of competition, the first Vinh Long Provincial Youth Union Sports Festival 2026 concludes on the afternoon of March 21 at Trung Ngoc Sports Complex in Tra Vinh Ward. The event celebrates the 95th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 – March 26, 2026) and welcomes the 1st Congress of the Vietnam Youth Federation of Vinh Long Province for the 2026–2029 term.
 

The festival takes place on March 20 and 21, attracting more than 500 athletes from 17 delegations representing Youth Union units across the province. Participants include full-time staff of the Provincial Youth Union, the Provincial Youth Activity Center, Youth Union officers from communes, wards, affiliated units, and members of the Young Entrepreneurs Association. Athletes compete in four sports: men’s mini football, women’s volleyball, badminton, and tug of war for both men and women. The football event features 17 teams, women’s volleyball has 15 teams, tug of war includes 15 teams, and badminton covers mixed doubles, men’s singles, and women’s singles.

Mr. Tran Tri Cuong, Member of the Central Committee of the Youth Union and Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Youth Union, states that the festival creates a strong spirit of emulation among young people across the province. The event also promotes physical training, strengthens leadership qualities among Youth Union officers, and enhances exchange and connection between units.

After six competition categories across four sports, the Organizing Committee awards full sets of first, second, third, and consolation prizes to outstanding teams and individuals. In men’s mini football, Tra Vinh University wins first prize, the combined team of Hieu Thanh Commune ranks second, and the Provincial Military Youth Union takes third place. Athlete Nguyen Minh Dat from Quoi Thien Commune wins top scorer, while Dang Quang Vinh from the Tra Vinh University Youth Union receives the best goalkeeper award.

In women’s volleyball, the Tra Vinh University Youth Union secures first prize, followed by the Long Hiep Commune combined team in second place and the Cang Long Commune combined team in third place. 

In tug of war, the Tra Vinh University Youth Union continues to lead with first prize, while Cuu Long University ranks second and the Cang Long Commune combined team takes third place.

In the overall ranking, the Tra Vinh University Youth Union wins first place, followed by the Youth Union of the University of Technical Education in second place. Two units, the Provincial People’s Committee Youth Union combined team and the Long Hiep Commune Youth Union combined team, share third place.
