High school students explore in-demand majors and experience campus life at TVU

(TVU) – A wide range of disciplines, including health sciences, engineering and technology, agriculture and aquaculture, economics and law, logistics and management, foreign languages, tourism, and Khmer Southern language–culture–arts and humanities, along with newly introduced and in-demand majors at TVU, attracts strong interest from high school students at the 2026 Admissions and Career Counseling Day.

On March 29, the Vinh Long Department of Education and Training, in coordination with TVU, organizes the 2026 admissions and career counseling program, drawing more than 2,000 students from 37 high schools across Vinh Long Province and neighboring areas.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Phan Quoc Nghia, Vice Director of TVU, states that the program provides students with direct access to experts to address questions regarding the 2026 high school graduation exam and admission methods. It also offers in-depth orientation on academic programs, training pathways, tuition fees, and scholarship opportunities.

Amid ongoing changes in examination and admission regulations, this year’s event gathers 20 reputable institutions, including universities, colleges, vocational schools, and leading study-abroad consulting centers from Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta region.

Mr. Vo Van Be Hai, Deputy Director of the Vinh Long Department of Education and Training, notes that the program is an annual initiative aimed at equipping students with sufficient information to choose suitable career paths based on their abilities and circumstances. He encourages students to actively engage, ask questions, and focus on successfully completing Grade 12 and the 2026 graduation exam.

At the event, representatives from educational institutions provide updated information on the 2026 graduation exam regulations, admission policies for universities and colleges (including early childhood education programs), and key admission timelines. Students also receive guidance on selecting majors that align with their interests, capabilities, and family circumstances. Institutions introduce their academic programs, learning environments, and post-graduation career opportunities.

Students and parents interact directly with institutions at consultation booths to gain deeper insights into majors, tuition, scholarships, facilities, and student life. Many institutions continue to apply flexible admission methods in 2026, including results from the national high school exam, high school academic records, competency assessment tests from Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, and computer-based tests such as V-SAT.

A notable highlight of the event is the opportunity for students to tour the campus, engage with institutional booths, and explore facilities at TVU, enabling them to experience their prospective fields firsthand. They also participate in hands-on activities such as testing biological products and engaging in discipline-specific practices, helping them better understand their strengths and complete scientific career-orientation assessments.

The program also features cultural exchanges, performances, interactive games, and promotional activities at consultation booths, creating a dynamic and engaging environment. On this occasion, the Organizing Committee awards nearly 100 scholarships to high-achieving students facing difficult circumstances from high schools and continuing education centers.

On January 12, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long signed Decision No. 73/QD-TTg to upgrade Tra Vinh University into TVU under a new institutional model, bringing the total number of national universities in Vietnam to 13. TVU currently comprises five member schools: College of Economics and Law, College of Khmer Southern Language, Culture, Arts, and Humanities, College of Medicine and Pharmacy, College of Engineering and Technology, and Tra Vinh Lab School.

In 2026, TVU offers 49 undergraduate programs across key fields such as agriculture and aquaculture, engineering and technology, health sciences, economics and law, logistics and management, education, applied chemistry, foreign languages, tourism and hospitality, biotechnology, environment, Khmer Southern language–culture–arts, and others. Notably, two new majors are introduced: Psychology and Agricultural Technology.

TVU implements multiple learner-centered policies, including full tuition exemption for pedagogy programs (under Government Decree 116) and Traditional Musical Instrument Performance, along with a monthly allowance of VND 450,000 for students in this field. A 30% tuition reduction applies to Cultural Studies and Musicology programs. The university also provides various annual scholarships for academic excellence, financial support, research, and entrepreneurship.

Additional scholarships include 50% tuition support for female students in engineering and technology fields such as transport engineering, construction engineering technology, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, automation and control, and automotive engineering. Female students in applied chemistry programs receive scholarships covering 30% of tuition fees.

The university is consistently ranked among the Top 200 on the UI GreenMetric sustainability rankings and has received digital transformation excellence awards for three consecutive years (2022–2024).
