TVU holds white coat ceremony for nursing students before clinical practice

TVU – On the afternoon of April 3, 2026, at room E21.105, the College of Medicine and Pharmacy (CMP) under TVU organizes the White Coat Ceremony for Nursing students of the 2024 cohort, marking an important transition before entering clinical practice in hospitals.

The program welcomes Dr. Duong Ngoc Diep and Dr. Nguyen Quoc Dung, nursing experts from the United States. Representing CMP are Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Thu, Vice Rector and Head of the Nursing Department, Dr. Nguyen Van Trung, Deputy Head of the Nursing Department, along with lecturers and more than 200 nursing students.

In his remarks, Dr. Nguyen Van Trung addresses second-year students as they begin clinical practice. He emphasizes that this stage is not only a course requirement but also a professional mission. He highlights three essential qualities for medical students, including meticulousness, empathy, and humility, and notes that patients serve as real-life teachers. He also reminds students to uphold professional ethics, personal integrity, and the image of the white coat.

During the orientation session, MSc. Truong Thi Bich Uyen, representative of the Clinical Nursing Division, presents key regulations and requirements for hospital practice. The content focuses on student responsibilities, dress code, handling of violations, and important notes, helping students prepare both knowledge and mindset for a professional environment.

At the event, MSc. Dang Thi Thuy My, Deputy Head of the Community Health Nursing Division, shares practical guidance on handling exposure incidents during clinical practice. She explains response procedures, sources of infection, and necessary steps after incidents, equipping students with essential safety skills in healthcare settings.

In a solemn atmosphere, students step onto the stage to receive their white coats from lecturers, symbolizing their entry into the medical profession. The white coat represents scientific knowledge, integrity, dedication, and responsibility toward patients. Wearing the coat marks a commitment to the mission and honor of future healthcare professionals.

 

Representing the 2024 cohort, student Nguyen Yen Nhi, class monitor of Nursing Class A, expresses determination to study, improve professional skills, and uphold medical ethics while contributing to society. She also extends sincere thanks to lecturers for their continuous support.

Closing the ceremony, Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Thu expresses her expectations for students to master theoretical knowledge and apply it effectively in practice, while continuously improving skills and maintaining compassion for patients. The ceremony leaves a strong impression and opens a meaningful new journey for the 2024 cohort as they begin their professional training with responsibility, empathy, and dedication to the community.
