TVU – Tra Vinh University (TVU), in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) – Vietnam National University – HCMC, The Korean Institute of Power Electronics in Vietnam (KIPE-VN), and the Vietnam Power Electronics Community (VPEC), successfully organized the annual National Workshop on Power Electronics and Applications in 2022, which was held on TVU’s Campus I with 69 scientists and scholars from domestic and foreign units.

More than 200 visitors, students, and lecturers attended the reporting sessions, of which TVU contributed 6 papers. The conference consisted of 06 reporting sessions, including 02 online sessions and 04 face-to-face sessions, attracting 69 scientists and scholars from domestic and foreign units to participate in writing articles and direct reports.

This year, there are reports from authors who are professionals in the Vietnam Power Electronics Community (VPEC) and are currently working and doing research at overseas research institutes and universities such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the United States, and Kazakhstan.

The seminar covered many topics related to power electronics including power electronic components; power transformation structure, modulation, and control method; recycled energy; energy storage and wireless transmission systems; smart grid.

Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Vice President of TVU, have a welcome speech for the Workshop

Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Vice President of TVU and seminar Co-Chair, stated that scientific research is a priority at TVU and that this is a great opportunity for students, lecturers, and researchers at TVU, as well as other institutes and universities, to share, exchange, and collaborate on scientific research issues, particularly in the field of power electronics.

In the first plenary session, Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Lam (Vielina) gave a presentation

Two important papers at the first plenary sessions with the topic: Discussing the development of power electronics from the perspective of energy energy efficiency in Vietnam by Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Lam and Dr. Ngo Manh Dung; and Discussing the role of power electronics in energy efficiency and some new development directions, and current trends in power electronics development in the world and in Vietnam from the perspective of energy efficiency and application.

Dr. Vo Quang Lam, Deputy General Director of EVN presents the report in the second plenary session

In the second plenary session, Dr. Vo Quang Lam, Deputy General Director of EVN, presented a panoramic view of the energy transition with the theme: “EVN energy transition: Opportunities and challenges” (Authors: Dr. Vo Quang Lam, Dr. Tran Thi Thu Tra, Dr. Hoang Minh Nam) and four major contents: global energy transition trends, Vietnamese energy transformation orientation, opportunities and challenges of the energy transition, and EVN energy transition orientation.

The SWPEA2022 offers numerous chances for collaboration among academics, the power electronics research community, and industry partners. The presence of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and The Korean Institute of Power Electronics in Vietnam (KIPE-VN) as primary sponsors for the SWPEA2022 contributed to the workshop’s success.
