The Biotechnology program at Tra Vinh University has an application-focused design to meet the needs of employers and the community.
Training Objectives
The Biotechnology program provides students with a foundational knowledge of social sciences, political science, law, information technology, and foreign languages. It teaches them how to plan, organize, supervise, manage, and run professional activities within the biotechnology field. Students learn to apply their technical knowledge to practical work. The program also develops essential skills for solving complex problems, such as planning, managing resources, and improving operational efficiency. Graduates can work effectively both independently and in teams, take personal and group responsibility, and guide others. They develop critical thinking, the ability to communicate solutions, and the skills to lead, start businesses, and create jobs for themselves and others.
Program Duration
Students earn a Bachelor of Biotechnology in 4 years. The program consists of 8 semesters and requires 156 credits to complete.
Applicants
We welcome applicants from within Vietnam and from other countries. The admission process follows the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and Tra Vinh University.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
Graduates can apply their knowledge of social, political, and legal sciences, as well as environmental protection, physical education, and national security, to contribute to the nation. They use their understanding of natural and social sciences in practical research and production settings. They can develop procedures to apply biotechnology knowledge to fields like microbiology, medicine and pharmacy, environmental science, gene technology, and plant biotechnology. Students also learn how to design research methods, set up experiments, analyze data, and effectively advise and transfer their knowledge to others.
Skills
Graduates can design experiments and transfer biotechnology processes. They become proficient in technical tasks related to microbiology, medicine, gene technology, and plant technology. They can analyze the operating principles of and use relevant machinery and equipment. Students learn to control technical processes for research and for the production of biotechnology products. The program also develops communication, report writing, presentation, teamwork, and critical thinking skills. Graduates build their capacity for scientific research in biotechnology and related fields and can apply their IT and English skills, which are equivalent to level 4/6 of the Vietnamese language competency framework.
Scholarship Opportunities
Students have access to scholarships according to the general policies of the Ministry of Education and Training and Tra Vinh University. In addition, students can receive various other scholarships, including academic encouragement scholarships and financial support from partner companies and businesses.
Career Opportunities
After graduating, students can find suitable jobs in companies and production units in the agricultural, aquaculture, food, and pharmaceutical industries. They can work in research and product development (R&D), as product specialists, or in quality control for raw materials and final products. Graduates can also work in the research labs of universities, institutes, and centers in the biotechnology field. Additionally, they can become lecturers and researchers at universities and colleges in the fields of biotechnology and life sciences.
Postgraduate Opportunities
Graduates of the Biotechnology program are qualified to advance their education. They can take short-term courses in biotechnology or related fields in Vietnam or abroad. They can also pursue a second bachelor’s degree in a related major. Furthermore, graduates are eligible for Master’s and PhD programs in biotechnology or related disciplines at universities nationally and internationally.
