TVU – “Internationalization” of student experiences in the country is the “key” to activate the global citizenship of learners. Attracting international students is also a way to build a “multicultural” environment and create more learning opportunities and experiences for Vietnamese students.
An exciting start to the new school year from a multicultural experience
Campus Tour – The experience of being a TVU student is integrated into the activities to welcome new students in 2022. The experiences of international students at the TVU are also the start of the new academic year of Tra Vinh University. This is an opportunity for students to participate in cultural activities, build a “multicultural” environment step by step, help them acquire the necessary skills in an integrated environment, and improve the quality of cultural value education in the community.
At this event, there are also many cultural exchange activities organized by the King Sejong Institute of Korean Language and Culture – Tra Vinh and the participation of international volunteers and lecturers at the School of Foreign Languages. The activities create many cultural colors, from which students of TVU can approach many different cultures.

From October 2 to October 4, 2022, students and teachers of Preah Sisowath High School, Phnom Penh Capital, Kingdom of Cambodia had memorable experiences. They visited the school’s facilities, learned information, and discovered the living environment and learning conditions. Also, students had the opportunity to visit cultural relics in Tra Vinh province, and exchange culture, arts, and sports with pupils of the Laboratory School and students of Tra Vinh University.

Ms. Try Rich, Vice Principal of Preah Sisowath High School shared that she was very impressed with the facilities and training environment at Tra Vinh University. Through the tour at TVU, students and teachers of Preah Sisowath High School would have more useful experiences, necessary information about life, study conditions in Tra Vinh as well as orientation to choose a school and a major for them in the future.
Ngoc Diep (a student of English major) said that participating in cultural exchange programs with students was a great experience for her. This opportunity helped me to build confidence in communication and improve my foreign language skills. Through such programs, I had more new experiences.
Signing a cooperation agreement to improve the quality of education
During this trip, Tra Vinh Laboratory School and Preah Sisowath High School signed cooperation agreements in the fields of sharing teaching methods and educating students; Sharing experiences to help students participate in scientific research, Science and Technology exams for middle and high school students; Sharing experiences of teaching foreign languages at NGS; Organizing alternate cultural exchanges between the two schools; Promoting information and communication among officials and students about the traditional friendship and cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two high schools was an important milestone to help them to access the educational environment associated with the task of career counseling for Vietnamese and Cambodian students. It also helped them have early orientations about Global Citizen, from which they can make their own decisions in choosing a school and a major. In addition, this was an opportunity to improve the professional skills of teachers and nurture students’ talents.
Gala “Connect and Spread”
Particularly, the Gala Dinner “Connect and Spread” took place on the evening of October 3, 2022, between students and teachers of Tra Vinh University and Preah Sisowath High School which was an impressive highlight and left many deep impressions.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Vice Rector said that Tra Vinh University has welcomed many international students, lecturers, and experts to study and research at the university through the following programs as student exchange, exchange scientific research, especially Tra Vinh University has participated in exchanges and cooperation with more than 90 partners from many countries around the world, including Cambodia. In addition, Tra Vinh University also wishes to expand cooperation with partners to organize cultural and academic exchange programs… On this occasion, students and teachers of Preah Sisowath High School had practical experiences and exchanges in the learning environment of Tra Vinh University students and strengthened their confidence to make future career choices that were suitable to their own abilities.
Thong Pagnatepy, the representative of Preah Sisowath High School said I was very impressed with Tra Vinh University with its diverse training programs and friendly learning environment. Especially, Tra Vinh University was also known as the Green University of Viet Nam, which was very interesting information for me. I was very impressed with the majors related to the field of research because I was able to see that Tra Vinh University had research rooms well-equipped for research activities.
The program also left many impressions with unique cultural performances, imbued with the national cultural identity between Vietnam and Cambodia. The performances of songs, dances, and ethnic musical instruments from students and teachers show their love and pride for the national culture. Through that, the two schools had more opportunities to learn about a new culture, country and people, contributing to “Internationalizing” the experience of students, domestic and international students closer to the world. The goal is to train Global Citizens in a “multicultural” environment.
