On August 11, within the framework of Vietnam Culture Week in Cambodia, the exhibition on “Cultural Heritage and Human Development” opened in Phnom Penh.

Delegates at the opening ceremony

Attending the ceremony were the Cambodian Minister of Culture and Arts – Phouerng Sackona, Mr. Hoàng Đạo Cương – Vietnam Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Phúc – Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Education, and Training, and a large number of ministries, departments, training, and academic institutions, along with students from Vietnam – Cambodia.

The cultural and educational exhibition with the theme “Cultural heritage and human development” was hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, held in Phnom Penh from August 10-14. The exhibition introduced over 50 photos of Vietnam’s culture, landscape, and people’s life, natural heritages, and tangible and intangible cultural heritages of Vietnam due to UNESCO’s World Heritage List. These are the achievements of Vietnamese sports, introducing an integrated and developed Vietnam. Besides the images is a space to display Vietnamese handicraft products. Additionally, for the first time, Vietnamese higher education institutions participated in an exhibition introducing Vietnamese education and Vietnamese education policies toward foreign students, including Cambodian students.

The exhibition aims to introduce to Cambodian people and international friends Vietnam’s rich cultural identity, dynamic development, tourism potential, and the prospect of sports development, attracting investment, and linking heritage with human development for sustainable development. The exhibition space contributes to the success of cultural and artistic activities to celebrate the Vietnam-Cambodia and Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Year 2022. It also enhances and develops the “good neighborliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation” between Vietnam and Cambodia.
