
Program objectives
The Doctor of Medicine program follows an application-oriented design to meet the needs of employers and relevant parties. The program provides students with fundamental knowledge of social sciences, political science, law, information technology, and foreign languages. It also teaches them how to plan, organize, supervise, manage, and operate professional activities in the health sciences field. Students learn to apply foundational knowledge of basic medicine, clinical medicine, and evidence-based medicine to their professional work.
The curriculum develops a student’s ability to work independently or in teams under changing conditions, accepting both personal and group responsibility, and they can guide and supervise others in performing specific tasks. They learn to think critically, evaluate work quality, communicate problems and solutions, and share knowledge for complex tasks. The program also builds the necessary skills to solve complex problems, manage resources, and improve activities. Graduates can self-direct, form professional conclusions, defend personal views, lead, and create jobs. Furthermore, they develop skills in scientific research and lifelong learning to meet the public’s health protection and care needs.
Admission subject combinations
The program accepts applicants from two subject combinations. Combination B00 includes Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology. Combination B08 includes Mathematics, Biology, and English.
Program duration
The Doctor of Medicine is a six-year program, which includes 12 semesters and 234 credits.
Target applicants
The university admits students by the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the specific rules of Tra Vinh University.

Learning outcomes
Regarding knowledge, graduates can apply knowledge of basic science and basic medicine as a foundation for clinical medicine. They can apply evidence-based medicine in healthcare practice. They also learn to apply fundamental knowledge of diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. Graduates can apply scientific methodologies to disease prevention, treatment, and scientific research. They adhere to laws and policies on protecting, caring for, and improving public health.
In terms of skills, graduates can diagnose, manage, monitor, and prevent common diseases and emergencies. They can formulate diagnostic orientations for some specialized diseases and analyze basic tests and functional exploration techniques to support diagnosis. They learn to propose appropriate treatment measures and create plans for comprehensive health care for individuals, families, and communities. They can perform simple tests in the community, detect epidemics early, and participate in epidemic prevention. They learn to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, colleagues, and the community. They can also use at least one foreign language and information technology for scientific research and to improve their professional knowledge.

Students can apply for scholarships under the general policies of the Ministry of Education and Training and Tra Vinh University.
Career opportunities after graduation
After graduating, doctors of medicine can take on roles in clinical care, teaching, scientific research, and management. They can work at medical facilities as treating doctors; at training institutions in the health sciences sector as lecturers and researchers; or at research institutes, management agencies, or professional organizations as researchers and health specialists. Furthermore, they can take on roles in organizing, managing, and directing professional activities at medical examination and treatment units.

After graduating, doctors of medicine can continue their studies and research at higher levels in Vietnam or abroad:
