Information Technology – accredited by ABET

The Information Technology program at Tra Vinh University is accredited by the international quality assurance standard ABET.

Training objectives

The Information Technology program uses an application-oriented approach to meet the needs of employers and the community. The program gives students a foundational knowledge of social sciences, political science, and law, along with strong foreign language skills and a sense of responsibility and discipline. We provide the professional knowledge and skills in information technology needed to meet the demands of the Industry 4.0 revolution. The program prepares students to work effectively in the IT field, make positive contributions to society, and work well independently or in teams. Graduates can guide and supervise others in IT-related tasks and are equipped with the ability to discover knowledge, solve problems, think systematically, and engage in lifelong learning for personal and professional growth.


Program duration

Students earn a Bachelor of Information Technology in 4 years. The program consists of 8 semesters and requires 150 credits to complete.


Applicants

We welcome applicants from within Vietnam and from other countries. The admission process follows the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and Tra Vinh University.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Graduates can apply fundamental knowledge from the natural sciences, social sciences, political science, and law to solve problems related to their major. They can also combine their specialized knowledge to address various professional issues.

Skills

Graduates can analyze complex computing problems and apply principles of computer science and other relevant knowledge to identify solutions. They can design, implement, and evaluate computer-based solutions to meet real-world requirements. Students also learn to use a systematic approach to select, develop, apply, integrate, and manage secure information technology systems to achieve user goals. The program develops strong English skills for writing, reading, and communication, reaching level 4/6 of the Vietnamese language competency framework. Graduates can communicate effectively in professional contexts and work well in teams, both as members and as leaders.

We offer scholarships according to the general policies of the Ministry of Education and Training and Tra Vinh University.


Career opportunities

After graduating, engineers in Information Technology can work in various companies and organizations. They can take on roles such as software designer, programmer, or tester. They can also work as network administrators, website administrators, or database administrators. Other career paths include IT system management, research and development, IT sales, consulting, and technical support. Graduates are also qualified to teach in the IT field.


Postgraduate opportunities

Graduates of the Information Technology program are qualified to advance their education. They can participate in short-term and specialized training courses in IT both in Vietnam and abroad. They can also pursue a second bachelor’s degree in another field. Furthermore, graduates are eligible to enroll in Master’s and PhD programs in Information Technology and related disciplines at universities nationally and internationally.
