(TVU) – On May 26, the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association of Tra Vinh province held the second congress of delegates for the term 2021-2026 at Tra Vinh University. Attending the congress was Mr. Nguyen Quynh Thien, Vice Chairman of the Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee.

The congress has approved the report on the performance of the Association’s work for the term 2015 – 2020 and elected 09 members to the Executive Board for the term 2021 – 2026. Accordingly, Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Binh was re-elected as the Chairwoman of the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association in Tra Vinh for this term.

The Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association in Tra Vinh was established in December 2015, operating under the direct management of the Provincial People’s Committee and the Department of Home Affairs. The Association strengthens the solidarity relationship between Vietnamese in general, people of Tra Vinh in particular, and Japanese people in many fields.

During the last term, the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association in Tra Vinh province has achieved many results; made contributions to forming the relationship between Tra Vinh and Japan. The Association has coordinated with agencies and organizations to organize the first and second Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange programs that attracted thousands of participants; celebrated the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan in 2018; regularly organized meetings with overseas Vietnamese in Tra Vinh, Japanese businesses. The Association also visits and works with the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City to discuss the potential of cooperation and investment for Tra Vinh province, promoting the cooperative relationship between Tra Vinh province and Japan,…

Mr. Nguyen Quynh Thien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee appreciated the efforts of the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association in the region’s people-to-people diplomacy, contributing to the implementation of the country’s foreign policy.

In addition, he expected that the Executive Committee of the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association of Tra Vinh province for the term 2021-2026 should continue to consolidate and expand the cooperation network. At the same time, the Association should also improve the efficiency of cooperation between the organizations and the two countries, and take advantage of aid resources from Japan, contributing to the province’s socio-economic development.

The Provincial People’s Committee continues to mobilize businesses, intellectuals, and young people to participate in people-to-people external activities. At the same time, pay attention to developing and promoting the role of local branches, widely propagating the Party’s guidelines and guidelines, along with the State’s policies and laws in foreign affairs to the people.
