Odonto – Stomatology – accredited by MOET

Program objectives

The program trains students to apply general, basic, and specialized scientific knowledge in odonto-stomatology practice. It develops their skills to solve problems in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of odonto-stomatological diseases to enhance oral health for individuals and the community. Students learn to self-study, conduct scientific research, and apply advanced technology for personal and professional development. The curriculum also prepares them to communicate scientific knowledge, as well as to critique and discuss professional issues with peers and others. Graduates can work independently and in teams in changing conditions and can direct, organize, and manage professional activities.


Admission subject combinations

The program accepts applicants from two subject combinations. Combination B00 includes Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology. Combination B08 includes Mathematics, Biology, and English.


Program duration

The Doctor of Odonto–Stomatology is a six-year program, which includes 12 semesters and 207 credits.


Target applicants

The university admits students by the formal university admission regulations of the Ministry of Education & Training.

Learning outcomes

Regarding knowledge, graduates can apply knowledge of social sciences, politics, law, physical education, and national security and defense to support their professional development. They can apply knowledge of basic science, basic medicine, and clinical medicine to the field of oral healthcare. Graduates also learn to apply technical procedures in the Odonto–Stomatology field. They can analyze the causes and pathogenesis of odonto-stomatological diseases and the oral manifestations of systemic diseases. Furthermore, they can systematize the legal regulations and health policies relevant to professional practice in Odonto–Stomatology.

In terms of skills, graduates can use English and information technology in communication, research, and professional practice. They can conduct scientific research in the Odonto–Stomatology field and provide counseling on treatment and oral healthcare to patients, their relatives, and the community. They can reason about the correlation between systemic diseases and common specialized diseases during a patient’s dental treatment. Graduates can create comprehensive treatment plans for diseases and morphological and functional abnormalities of the odonto-stomatological system. They learn to analyze the results of subclinical tests to support diagnosis and management, and can control emergency situations that occur during treatment. They are also able to manage patient records according to legal regulations, provide guidance on oral healthcare for individuals and the community, and work effectively independently and in teams.

Students can apply for scholarships under the general policies of the Ministry of Education and Training and Tra Vinh University.


Career opportunities after graduation

After graduating, doctors of Odonto–Stomatology can take on roles in clinical care, teaching, scientific research, and management. They can work at medical facilities as treating doctors; at training institutions in the health sciences sector as lecturers and researchers; or at research institutes, management agencies, or professional organizations as researchers and health specialists. Furthermore, they can take on roles in organizing, managing, and directing professional activities at Odonto–Stomatology clinics.


Postgraduate opportunities

After graduating from the Doctor of Odonto–Stomatology program, graduates can continue their studies and research at higher levels in Vietnam or abroad:

  • Practical System: Resident Doctor, Specialist Doctor.

  • Research System: Master’s program, Ph.D. candidate.
