(TVU) – On March 8, 2026, at Tra Vinh University, the Vinh Long Provincial Department of Education and Training, in coordination with the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Police Department, the Department of Health, and Tra Vinh University, organized the Opening Ceremony of the first Vinh Long Province High School National Defense and Security Education Sports Festival, 2026.
The ceremony took place in a solemn atmosphere. The participating students appeared in uniform, displaying a serious demeanor and clearly demonstrating the younger generation’s discipline and sense of responsibility. This is an important event for the education sector in Vinh Long province, not only as an opportunity to assess the quality of national defense and security education in high schools, but also as a platform for students to cultivate willpower, courage, discipline, and teamwork.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. La Thi Thuy, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Long province and Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized the important role of national defense and security education in fostering a sense of responsibility among the younger generation towards the Fatherland. According to her, the sports competition not only improves the quality of teaching this subject but also promotes a competitive training movement among units, creating opportunities to discover and select outstanding students to participate in the National Defense and Security Education Sports Competition in the future. Furthermore, it aims to select promising individuals to participate in the National Defense Education Sports Competition.
Reportedly, this year’s sports festival brought together 1,144 coaches from 88 high schools across the province, along with 789 students directly participating in various competitions. Ms. La Thi Thuy also expressed her appreciation for the active cooperation and support of units, including the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Police Department, the Department of Health, and Tra Vinh University in organizing the sports festival. Notably, this is the first time Vinh Long province has organized a large-scale national defense and security education sports festival since the province’s merger, thereby laying the foundation and setting a standard for future sports festivals.
During the program, Lu Thai Binh, a student from Nguyen Thien Thanh High School for the Gifted, representing the 789 participating contestants, read the oath, expressing their determination to compete seriously, abide by the rules, respect the results of the Judging Panel, and strive their best in each competition with the motto: “Unity – Honesty – Discipline – Confidence – Safety.”
Representing the Judging Panel, Major Dang Thanh Liem swore to perform his duties with a high sense of responsibility, ensuring fairness and accuracy in the judging process and creating favorable conditions for contestants to showcase their best abilities.
During the ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented commemorative flags to representatives of the 88 participating units. According to the units, to prepare for this competition, many schools organized serious training, even maintaining practice throughout the Tet holiday with high determination to achieve the best results.
The first Vinh Long Provincial High School National Defense and Security Education Sports Festival in 2026 is expected to become a beneficial playground, contributing to the development of courage, discipline, responsibility, and patriotism among students, while further affirming the role of national defense and security education in the education and training of the young generation.
