
Program objectives
The Pharmaceutical Chemistry program follows an application-oriented design to meet the needs of employers and relevant parties. The program provides students with basic knowledge of social sciences, politics, law, IT, and foreign languages. It teaches them to plan, organize, and manage professional activities in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry field. Students learn to understand and apply knowledge of Pharmaceutical Chemistry to participate in the research, design, and synthesis of new active ingredients for new drug development.
The program also develops students’ ability to work independently or in teams and take responsibility. They learn to think critically, evaluate work quality, and communicate solutions. Graduates gain the necessary skills to solve complex problems, manage resources, and improve activities. They can self-direct, form professional conclusions, defend personal views, lead, create jobs, and disseminate knowledge in their field.
Program duration
The Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a 3.5-year program, which includes 7 semesters and 130 credits.
Target applicants
The program admits students from both within and outside the country, following the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the specific rules of Tra Vinh University.

Learning outcomes
Regarding knowledge, graduates can apply basic knowledge and analytical procedures of modern equipment in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. They can explain experimental issues, synthesis processes, and the operating principles of analytical and pharmaceutical testing equipment. They can apply basic knowledge of natural, engineering, and social sciences to their major. Graduates can also apply the principles of safe and rational drug use, mechanisms of action, and pharmacokinetics.
In terms of skills, graduates can analyze the characteristics, chemical composition, and medicinal properties of plants. They can analyze the processes of synthesis, formulation, and testing of pharmaceuticals. They can synthesize and test the quality of drugs and functional foods from plant-based materials. Graduates can select and evaluate the pharmacology and biological activity of medicinal materials. They learn to research and develop biologically active substances for new drugs, adhere to pharmaceutical law, and apply new technologies. They can use specialized English and software and have strong skills in report writing, presentation, communication, and teamwork.

Career opportunities after graduation
Graduates can work as analysts and quality control specialists at research institutes, pharmaceutical companies, Departments of Health, and analysis centers. They can work in research and development of new pharmaceutical compounds or the production of compounds from natural sources. They can research and teach at universities and colleges. Graduates can also start their pharmaceutical chemistry businesses or work in production and business management roles, such as in drug registration and import-export departments.
Postgraduate opportunities
After graduating, students have the full capacity to continue their studies. They can participate in short-term training courses in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in Vietnam and abroad. They can pursue a second bachelor’s degree in a related major. They can also enroll in postgraduate programs (Master’s, Ph.D.) in the same group of majors at universities in Vietnam or abroad.
