(TVU) – On July 1, 2022, a national scientific conference on cultural heritage in education and tourism activities took place at Tra Vinh University. The seminar attracted more than 100 delegates, scientists, managers, and Ph.D. students in the field of culture and tourism from institutes, schools, and training units across the country.
Attending the seminar were Mr. Son Thanh Liem – Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Soc Trang province, Dr. Nguyen Huu Tho – Vice-Rector of Kien Giang University, Mr. Nguyen Trong Tin – Head of Tourism Management Department, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province, Mr. Phan Thanh Doan – Head of Department of Propaganda, Culture, and Arts, Provincial Propaganda Department, Tra Vinh Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Thach Chan ViTu – Deputy Head of Culture – Tourism Management Department, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tra Vinh province. In addition, many managers, researchers, seminar authors, teachers from local high schools, officials, lecturers, graduated students, and students of Tra Vinh University participated in the seminar.
Mrs. Thach Thi Dan, Vice-Rector of Tra Vinh University, becomes the Head of the Conference Organizing Committee. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hue – Dean of the School of Southern Khmer Language, Culture and Arts, and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phan Quoc Anh, Tra Vinh University, co-chaired the workshop.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Hue said: The seminar is a forum for academic exchange about cultural heritage in Education and Tourism. The participants aim to share experiences on issues related to the cultural heritage in the regions. They also focus on introducing our country’s cultural heritages, assessing the current status of conservation and museum work: What can and can’t be done, and propose measures to increase the community’s awareness of heritage cultural heritage through communication, education, and tourism activities.
Presentation on “Digitalization of cultural heritage associated with tourism development in Tra Vinh” (Author’s team: MSc. Vo Thanh C, MSc. Duong Ngoc Van Khanh, MSc. Nguyen Ba Nhiem – Tra Vinh University) develop several solutions to digitize cultural heritage in Tra Vinh province to improve the effectiveness of promotion and introduction of cultural heritages as well as create a breakthrough for Tra Vinh tourism to take further steps, contributing to the economic development of the province such as digitizing cultural heritage with 3D Scanning technology, applying virtual reality technology to build a virtual tour system, a digital map of Tra Vinh’s cultural heritage, 3D websites and mobile applications to introduce cultural heritages and information about cultural heritages on social networks in Tra Vinh.
Dr. Ho Tuong, Binh Duong University, in the lecture “Teaching historical and cultural relics and scenic spots for Vietnam’s tourism” emphasized the importance of introducing a method of classification and systematization of historical relics. Cultural history and scenic spots of Vietnam and applied teaching for students majoring in tour guides and travel services, helping graduate students easily and quickly access tour design and tourism.
The organizing committee received more than 70 papers from authors in many agencies, units, and schools throughout the country. The authors discussed cultural heritage in tourism and education activities. Besides clarifying the UNESCO qualified cultural heritages, the authors also describe the cultural heritages in each locality, including identification of the cultural heritage of the nation; Analysis of the current status of cultural heritage in localities; assessment of technology application activities in heritage conservation: Technology applications to preserve cultural heritage in Vietnam, in Tra Vinh province (3D, VR, E-learning); Conservation and promotion of cultural heritage in education and tourism: Education of Hue cultural heritage; teaching about historical, cultural and scenic sites in Vietnam to tour guides; teaching heritage in high schools; inclusion of cultural heritage in history education in upper secondary schools; Folklore (VHDG) Tra Vinh; The presentations aimed at identifying heritages in conservation and exploitation activities through tourism and education programs.
Mrs. Thach Thi Dan also shared: “Vietnam is a great resource for the construction of the country through tourism development. Cultural heritage has contributed to creating many typical tourism products for Vietnam tourism. The scientific presentations of the conference contribute to providing useful materials for domestic and foreign researchers and educators about the cultural heritage of our country today. Concerns and suggestions of the authors are the basis for policymakers, and managers of cultural, tourism, and educational activities at each local and central level to identify the current situation and take early action. practical action, associated with the actual practice.”
