Tra Vinh University held a workshop on Intellectual Property Rights

On January 17, 2012, TVU held a workshop on Intellectual Property Rights for about 30 representatives of TVU departments and faculties presented by Dr. Joseph Meissner- Deputy Director of Friendship Foundation American-Vietnamese (FFAVN).

At the workshop, Dr. Joseph Meissner introduced the importance of intellectual property  for the global economy, Vietnam’s economy and Institutions. He also introduced the basic content of intellectual property rights with the key concepts such as patent, copy right, trade mark and trade secret. After the presentation of theory, he also gave

some problem solving exercises for the participants to discuss and to present through which they could show their understanding.

All the participants at the workshop learnt a lot from Dr. Joseph Meissner- a forty year working lawyer

graduated from Harvard University. They may understand thoroughly the presentation in their different ways, but they will never forget the message that Dr. Joseph Meissner delivered on that day : Being TVU members, you should encourage TVU staff and students more in teaching activities, engage education  with enterprises, develop the intellectual property to assert TVU’s position in the context of economic globalization at present.
