Tra Vinh University welcomed Ms. Catherine Beach, Project Officer on the International Youth Internship Program of Canadian International Development Agency

      On December 9 & 10, 2011 Ms. Catherine Beach, Project Officer
on the International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) of Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), visited Tra Vinh University (TVU) aiming at knowing about the work of the three interns at TVU.

      Vice-Rector Nguyen Tien Dung and some Heads of related Departments and Faculties of TVU, three interns from The Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland (MI interns) and their supervisors warmly welcomed Ms. Beach.

      At the meeting,  an overview of TVU’s internship program was introduced to Ms. Beach. Then Ms. Beach was reported about the work done at TVU by the three MI interns since September 23rd. The host institution and MI interns also told Ms. Beach their experience, challenges and suggestions during the internship since September. Both TVU and MI interns suggested that the internship should be lengthened more than 6 months.

      On behalf of TVU Rector Board, Vice-Rector Nguyen Tien Dung said that TVU was very happy to welcome Ms. Beach and affirmed that TVU would like to welcome more experts, interns and volunteers to help TVU undertake capacity building and knowledge sharing, enhance cultural exchanges and create the English-speaking environment for TVU students and staff.

      Ms. Beach thanked TVU for its useful supports and good working conditions provided to the interns as well as its warmest welcome given to her and received all the suggestions. Regarding the suggestion to lengthen the internship, TVU should discuss with MI before sending the proposal to IYIP. After the meeting, Ms. Beach visited the working and living places of the three interns at TVU.
