The Grand Finals of the National Chinese Speech Contest took place on November 15 in Da Nang City; the event was jointly organized by the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam-China Friendship Association of Da Nang, the Chinese Consulate General in Da Nang, VTV8, and other relevant units.

With the theme “Enhancing Cultural Exchange, Strengthening Vietnam-China Friendship,” the contest is an important people-to-people diplomatic activity within the framework of celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China (January 18, 1950 – January 18, 2025) and the Vietnam-China Year of Humanistic Exchange.

According to the Organizing Committee, the contest provides a valuable platform for students and young people nationwide to interact, share experiences, and nurture their passion for studying Chinese culture and language. It also contributes to increasing mutual understanding and strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. This year’s contest is considered highly prestigious and has received positive attention from China amid the strong development of bilateral relations.
This year’s contest attracted nearly 1,000 contestants from provinces and cities across Vietnam. After the second preliminary round, the Organizing Committee selected the 25 most outstanding contestants from universities, academies, colleges, Confucius Institutes, Friendship Associations, and Vietnam-China Friendship Associations in 15 provinces and cities to compete in the Grand Finals in Da Nang. Additionally, one video submission stood out and won the “Most Impressive Video Clip” award, surpassing hundreds of entries nationwide.

Representing the School of Chinese Linguistics (College of Southern Khmer Language – Culture – Arts and Humanities, Tra Vinh University), Vo Minh Duc, a student from the Class of 2022, made it to the Top 25 and competed in the Grand Finals. With a confident and emotionally expressive speech, Minh Duc received a Consolation Prize. Additionally, his video submission earned recognition as the “Most Impressive Video Clip,” surpassing hundreds of entries from units nationwide. This marks the fourth consecutive year that students from the School of Chinese Linguistics have participated and won awards in the National Chinese Speech Contest.

Sharing his experience after the contest, Minh Duc said, “I’d like to express my deepest gratitude to the TVU Board of Rectors, my professors, and the School of Chinese Linguistics for guiding, supporting, and creating opportunities for me to participate in the contest. This was not only my first visit to Da Nang and first time participating in a nationwide contest but also a valuable opportunity to interact and learn from the outstanding performances of students from all regions of Vietnam.”
