TVU – Students from the 2020 and 2021 classes of Logistics Service Management and E-commerce began their co-op internships at companies in Ho Chi Minh City on May 12, 2023.
One of the first public universities in the Mekong Delta to implement the Co-op model for teaching Logistics Service Management and E-commerce, Tra Vinh University, cooperates with businesses in the industries and allows students to work as actual employees for a third of the training period. This helps students develop professional and practical skills that will enhance their job opportunities after graduation.
From May 15 to September 3, 2023, students from Tra Vinh University’s Logistics and E-commerce Training Center will be participating in a 4-month co-op internship at businesses, including FM Logistic Vietnam, ABA Business Solutions Joint Stock Company, San Ha Co., Ltd., NDG Co., Ltd., Vietnam Electrical Engineering Co., Ltd., Onex Logistics Co., Ltd., and CEH Informatics Co., Ltd., etc.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Loan, the Center’s deputy director, in order for students to experience and familiarize themselves with the culture and working environment, the Center always creates all conditions and internship opportunities at companies and enterprises suitable for their majors. Particularly, the Co-op training program assists students in gaining information and real-world experience in the industry while working full-time and earning a stipend to cover living expenses. Moreover, an internship at a business can assist in the growth of a student’s career after graduation.
Vo Ngoc Huong, a student of the Logistics Management Class of 2020, said, “I am very excited to have the opportunity to spend my internship at FM Logistics Vietnam, a business with a global presence in the logistics industry. With 14 locations across three continents, the business is considered to be among the top logistics providers in Vietnam. I genuinely appreciate the essential conditions that the professors at the Center and Tra Vinh University have provided for us. I will do my best to take advantage of this chance to effectively complete the internship.”
After a period of studying at university, student Ta Thanh Nam of the E-commerce class of 2021, who is an intern at ANNI Co., Ltd., expressed his expectation that during the internship term, he would experience and become familiar with the real working environment at the company. He would also be able to enhance his teamwork and communication skills, two soft skills in which he was not particularly strong.
2020 Logistics Management student Le Thai Tran expressed his excitement about the opportunity of being an intern at CEH Informatics Co., Ltd. “The center has made it possible for me to select and locate an internship that is appropriate for me. I hope to learn and develop my strengths through this internship so that I’ll be best prepared for life after graduation.”
Mr. To Hoang Phuc, Sales Director of ABA Cooltrans, claimed that the company would provide students with the necessary training and working environment throughout the internship so that they could approach the company’s real work as full-time employees. Therefore, for students who lack experience, a positive attitude, honesty, inquisitiveness, and initiative in work are crucial qualities that employers look for in young interns. Accordingly, businesses may hire intern students since they do not have to invest a lot of time in retraining.
Students who participate in internships get the chance to put their classroom learning into practice and experience real-world scenarios in the workplace. Tra Vinh University will continue to work with companies in the future to establish benefits and provide programs that are appropriate for students to quickly access the most recent technology and receive good remuneration.
