The Veterinary Medicine program at Tra Vinh University is accredited by the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) and has a career-oriented focus to meet the needs of employers and the community. 🐾

Training Objectives

The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program provides students with a foundational knowledge of social sciences, political science, law, and information technology. It also offers broad, in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge within the veterinary field. Students learn to plan, organize, supervise, manage, and run professional veterinary operations. The program develops their ability to think critically, evaluate work quality, and communicate complex issues and solutions effectively. Graduates achieve a level 4/6 English proficiency according to the Vietnamese language competency framework. We also equip students with essential skills to solve complex problems, lead teams, and create job opportunities for themselves and others. The program fosters the ability to work independently or in teams in changing environments, taking both personal and group responsibility, while also guiding others and defending professional viewpoints.

 

Program Duration

Students earn a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 4.5 years. The program consists of 9 semesters and requires 168 credits.

We welcome applicants from Vietnam and other countries. The admission process follows the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and Tra Vinh University.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

Graduates can apply fundamental knowledge of political science, law, national defense, and environmental protection to make sound decisions in their lives and careers. They combine foundational and specialized knowledge to solve practical problems in animal husbandry and veterinary medicine scientifically and effectively. Students learn to develop plans to diagnose, prevent, treat, and manage diseases in livestock and poultry in Vietnam. This work promotes cleaner production methods, enhances animal health, and ensures a safe food supply for people.

Skills

Graduates learn to combine technical consulting with business knowledge in the veterinary field to provide maximum benefits for clients. They can assess the impact of the environment on animal behavior and welfare and understand the practical concerns of using animals in society. Students can effectively use information technology and modern veterinary equipment. The program helps students develop project management, independent work, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Graduates also achieve a level 4/6 English proficiency and enhance their ability to analyze, judge, and think critically about professional issues.

Scholarship Opportunities

Students have access to scholarships according to the general policies of the Ministry of Education and Training and Tra Vinh University. They can also receive various other scholarships, including academic encouragement scholarships and financial support from partner companies and businesses. Additionally, students can participate in the paid Co-op internship program with businesses.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Veterinary Medicine program can take on many roles. They can work as technical officers or leaders in government units such as the Department of Animal Health, veterinary institutes, sub-departments of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, veterinary stations, and diagnostic centers. They also find roles in research institutes and provincial departments of agriculture and rural development. Graduates can become researchers and lecturers at universities and colleges in Vietnam or abroad. In the private sector, they can work as managers or sales representatives for companies that produce animal feed, breeding stock, vaccines, and veterinary drugs. Many graduates also start their businesses, such as livestock farms, veterinary clinics, or stores that supply veterinary medicine and equipment.

Postgraduate Opportunities

After graduating, students can continue to study and conduct in-depth research at the master’s or doctoral level in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry. They are also qualified to pursue postgraduate degrees in related fields such as Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology.
