Real-life experiences at the universities – a popular career orientation model for highschool students

TVU – Many high schools in the Mekong Delta region organize field trips and real-life experiences for students at higher education institutions. Many students consider This an effective and popular form of career orientation and practical experience.

On April 7th, over 1,000 students from more than 37 high schools inside and outside the province enthusiastically experience, explore admission information, training programs, and learning spaces, and participate in the 3rd TVU Chemistry Olympiad 2024 at Tra Vinh University.

The tour includes students from Nguyen Thien Thanh High School (Tra Vinh); Truong Long Tay High School (Hau Giang); Chau Thanh A High School (Hau Giang); Tan Quoi High School (Vinh Long); Binh Thuy High School (Can Tho); Phan Van Tri High School (Can Tho); Giai Xuan High School (Can Tho); Huynh Tan Phat High School (Ben Tre); Thanh Phuoc High School (Ben Tre); Giong Trom Continuing Education Center (Ben Tre) and Kien Luong Continuing Education Center (Kien Giang), as well as students from 37 high schools in the provinces, to participate in the 3rd TVU Chemistry Olympiad 2024.

     

Early in the morning, the students arrived at the university and were quickly guided by tourism and hospitality management students. Here, they toured the lecture halls, faculties, and departments; experienced learning and directly practiced in the laboratories, simulation rooms, etc.

In addition, lecturers and students introduced the faculties, and departments, and provided career counseling, helping the students choose suitable future careers, and learn about the training programs, employment opportunities, and scholarship programs, as well as the learning and training environment.

Tra Vinh University is a familiar destination for many high schools in the Mekong Delta region and neighboring provinces. To help students better understand the university environment, the school is always ready to welcome teachers and students for experiential activities.

According to the Tra Vinh University Admission Counseling Team, before the admission season, a large number of high school students from the provinces come to Tra Vinh University to participate in the “A Day as a Student” experiential activity. Understanding the needs and aspirations of high school students, especially 12th-grade students, the university always warmly welcomes them.

The staff, lecturers, and students of the university always strive to create the most friendly and effective learning and research environment for the learners.

Many students asked very practical questions about admission, policies, scholarships, learning environment, and career opportunities, and received enthusiastic responses from the university’s faculty and staff.

In 2024, Tra Vinh University will recruit students in training fields such as Agriculture – Aquaculture; Engineering and Technology; Health Sciences; Economics, Law, Logistics and Management; Education; Applied Chemistry; Tourism, Restaurant and Hotel Services; Biotechnology, Environment; Khmer Language, Culture and Arts in the South; Sports Management, Political Theory, etc. Notably, a new major in Plant Protection has been added, as well as 4 new specializations: Social Work – Social Work Specialization in the Medical Field, Control and Automation Engineering Technology – Semiconductor Microchip Design Specialization, Information Technology – English-taught Information Technology Specialization, and Business Administration – English-taught General Business Administration Specialization.

The expected admission methods include Consideration of the 2024 High School Graduation Exam results; Consideration of high school academic results (Transcript); Consideration of the university entrance assessment test results (V-SAT); Consideration of the Ability Test results organized by Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City; Direct admission according to the Admission Regulations issued by the Ministry of Education and Training; Admission of students from the University Preparatory Program – Tra Vinh University, and National Minority Preparatory School; Admission of international students who have graduated from high school and international students.

Currently, the university has 19 accredited education programs according to international standards, contributing to placing Tra Vinh University among the universities in the Mekong Delta region with the most internationally accredited programs.

These include 7 programs accredited by FIBAA (Europe), 11 programs accredited by AUN-QA (Southeast Asia), and 1 program accredited by ABET (USA); the Stomatology program is accredited by the Ministry of Education and Training. The university is also continuing to implement accreditation for the remaining 20 to 25 programs shortly.

The 11 Tra Vinh University training programs accredited for international education quality by AUN-QA are Agriculture, Aquaculture, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Pharmacy, Khmer Language, Food Technology, Master of Culture, Early Childhood Education, and English Language.

In addition, the 7 programs accredited for international education quality by FIBAA are Business Administration, Economics, Law, Accounting and Banking Finance, Master of Business Administration, and Master of Economic Management. The Information Technology program is accredited by ABET.

The university always implements good policies towards learners such as a 100% tuition fee exemption for students in education majors (according to Government Decree 116) and the Traditional Musical Instrument Performance major. 30% tuition fee reduction for students in Cultural Studies and Music majors. Provision of a monthly living allowance of 450,000 VND for students in the Traditional Musical Instrument Performance major. At the same time, the university annually provides many scholarships to encourage learning, scholarships from sponsors for disadvantaged and talented students, and many policies for students engaged in scientific research and entrepreneurship.

MANY SCHOLARSHIPS equivalent to 50% of tuition fees are available for female students pursuing engineering and technology majors: Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical – Electronic Engineering Technology, Control and Automation Engineering Technology, Automotive Mechanical Engineering Technology, etc. Scholarships equivalent to 30% of tuition fees are available for female students pursuing applied chemistry majors.

Recently, Tra Vinh University continued to rise to 43rd in the top 100 of the WURI Ranking 2023 – a university with a positive impact and contribution to society. At the same time, it ranked 11th in the top 50 for startup value and innovation; 34th in the top 50 for international student exchange and cooperation opportunities; 18th in the top 50 for open connectivity, digitalization, and integrated applications; 29th in the top 50 for managing change and sustainable development; 49th in the top 50 for ethical values; and 45th in the top 50 for scientific and technological applications.
