The 9th Congress of the Vietnamese Students’ Association of Tra Vinh University, Term 2025-2028

On December 27th and 28th, 2025, at Hall E21.105, the Vietnamese Students’ Association of Tra Vinh University held its 9th Congress, for the term 2025-2028. The Congress is an essential event for the University’s students, aimed at summarizing and evaluating the Association’s work and student movements during the 2023-2025 term. It also seeks to determine the direction, goals, and tasks for the new term, with the action slogan “Keep a pure heart, cultivate wisdom, and thrive in the new era.”

Attending the event were representatives from the Standing Committee of the Vinh Long Provincial Youth Union and the Vietnamese Students’ Association of Vinh Long Province, including Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Huong, Deputy Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Youth Union, and Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Thoai, Member of the Standing Committee and Permanent Vice President of the Vietnamese Students’ Association of Vinh Long Province.

On the side of the Party Committee, the School Council, and the Board of Directors of Tra Vinh University, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Secretary of the Party Committee and the School Rector; Dr. Phan Quoc Nghia, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and the School Vice Rector; and Dr. Thach Thi Dan, School Vice Rector.

On the side of the University’s Youth Union and Students’ Association, there were Ms. Pham Le Phuong Thao, Standing Committee Member of the Provincial Youth Union, Secretary of the University’s Youth Union, and President of the University’s Students’ Association (8th term); Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Member of the Provincial Youth Union Executive Committee, Deputy Secretary of the University’s Youth Union, and Vice President of the University’s Students’ Association (8th term); Mr. Lam Van Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the University’s Youth Union; Ms. To Thi Ngoc Huyen, Deputy Secretary of the University’s Youth Union; and Ms. Nguyen Minh Hien, Vice President of the University’s Student’s Association (8th term); Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Quynh, Vice President of the Students’ Association of the University, 8th term, along with members in the Standing Committee and Executive Committee of the University’s Youth Union; the Secretariat and Executive Committee of the Students’ Association of the University, 8th term.

The Congress was also attended by leaders of units within the University, former Youth Union and Students’ Association officials from various periods, and 150/150 official delegates representing 10,072 members and students of the entire University.

In her address at the Congress, Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Thoai, Standing Vice President of the Vietnamese Students’ Association of Vinh Long province, acknowledged and highly appreciated the outstanding achievements of the Tra Vinh University Students’ Association during the past term; and requested the new Executive Committee to continue innovating the content and methods of operation, focusing on digital transformation, improving the quality of the “5 Good Students” movement, entrepreneurship, and scientific research.

On behalf of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa emphasized the Students’ Association’s role in accompanying and supporting students’ comprehensive development in academics, skills, ethics, and social responsibility. At the same time, the University affirmed that it will continue to create favorable conditions for the sustainable development of the Students’ Association and the student movement, in line with the orientation to build Tra Vinh University in accordance with the “Green University” model.

The Congress was held with two working sessions. The first session (on the evening of December 27, 2025) focused on organizational work, personnel consultation, and the election of the Presidium, Secretariat, Inspection Committee, and Executive Committee of the University’s Students’ Association for the 9th term.

      

The second session (on the afternoon of December 28, 2025) took place in a serious and democratic atmosphere, with the following key contents: reporting on the results of the first working session; presenting the political report summarizing the 2023-2025 term; discussing and presenting specialized topics; guiding speeches from the Provincial Students’ Association and the University leadership; introducing the new Executive Committee; and adopting the Congress Resolution.

The political report presented at the Congress showed that during the 2023-2025 term, the Students’ Association and the student movement at Tra Vinh University achieved many outstanding results, exceeding many set targets.

Regarding the “5 Good Students” movement: 4 students achieved the title at the central level (200% of the target), 33 students at the provincial level, and 736 students at the university level.

Learning and scientific research: 89 scientific research projects led or participated in by students, achieving 593% of the plan.

Entrepreneurship and digital transformation: 92 activities were organized to equip students with entrepreneurial knowledge and skills, achieving 1,533% of the plan.

Community activities and social welfare: Nearly 950 million VND in scholarships and social resources were mobilized, achieving a 316% increase.

Development of the Students’ Association: 4,379 new members were admitted, bringing the total number of members in the University to 10,072.

Besides the achievements, the Congress also frankly acknowledged some limitations, such as the fact that the work of understanding student sentiment was sometimes not timely, and that the Students’ Association’s leadership team faced difficulties due to rapid personnel turnover.

The Congress deliberated and, by unanimous vote, elected the Executive Committee of the Tra Vinh University Students’ Association for term IX, 2025-2028, consisting of 23 members, including seven members of the Secretariat. The Congress also simultaneously adopted the Congress Resolution, with 100% of delegates voting in favor.
