Tra Vinh University hosts expert from University of San Francisco to discuss modern language teaching methods

On December 12, Tra Vinh University (TVU) welcomes and meets with Dr. Sedique Popal, TESOL Program Coordinator at the School of Education’s Department of International and Multicultural Education, University of San Francisco (USA), to exchange cooperation plans and share expertise on modern teaching methods in language education.

Representing Tra Vinh University at the meeting are Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tai, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Associate Professor Dr. Chau Thi Hoang Hoa, Director of the International Cooperation Office, and lecturers from the Faculty of Foreign Languages. The working session focuses on exchanging professional cooperation content and providing an overview of the structure and training orientation of the School of Education at the University of San Francisco, which includes the Department of International and Multicultural Education (IME), the Learning and Instruction Department (L&I), the Organization and Leadership Department (O&L), and the Catholic Educational Leadership Program (CEL).

During the meeting, Dr. Sedique Popal shares issues related to innovating language teaching methods, focusing on humanizing learning and teaching activities, enhancing communication effectiveness in multicultural educational environments, and language teaching principles, including human learning capacity, the i+1 principle, the affective filter principle, and the theory of multiple intelligences, along with many other concepts aimed at improving teaching effectiveness. He also introduces the SDAIE model (Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English), which helps learners study through visual and interactive activities.

Representing the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tai expresses appreciation for the professional insights shared by the expert from the University of San Francisco while emphasizing the importance of updating international teaching methods to improve training quality. Dr. Sedique Popal highly values TVU’s development orientation and expresses his desire to continue promoting academic cooperation activities in the coming time.
