TVU – On April 17, 2022, the School of Applied Chemistry – Tra Vinh University held the 1st Chemistry Olympic for high school students in grades 11 and 12 in the Mekong Delta.
At the ceremony, there was Ms. Nguyen Thi Kha – Chairwoman of the Study Promotion Association of Tra Vinh province, and Ms. Thach Thi Dan – Vice-Rector of Tra Vinh University. Besides, many official representatives, teachers inside and outside the area, and 120 candidates were also involved.
There were 30 teams participated in the competition, including 120 contestants (4 contestants per team) from 22 high schools in 5 provinces: Vinh Xuan High School, Tan Quoi High School, Hoang Thai Hieu High School, Huu Thanh High School, School Tra On High School, Hoa Binh Middle School and High School, Trung Vuong Middle School and High School (Vinh Long Province); My Huong High School, Tran De Middle, and High school, Phu Tam High School, Hoang Dieu High School (Soc Trang Province); Bui Huu Nghia High School, Nguyen Thien Thanh High School for the Gifted, Luong Hoa A Middle School and High School, Pedagogical Practice School, Cau Ngang B High School, Tra Cu District Ethnic Minority Boarding High School and High School, School Nguyen Van Hai High School, Duong Hao Hoc High School (Tra Vinh province); Nguyen Trai High School (Ben Tre province), Bac Lieu High School for the Gifted (Bac Lieu province).
The competition has 2 parts. In the theory test, candidates answered 100 multiple-choice questions and 01 essay question. The practical test consisted of 20 multiple-choice questions on laboratory work ethics, basic laboratory techniques, and 2 experimental parts selected by the Organizing Committee from the exam rules.
At the end of the competition, the Committee gave the First, Second, Third, and 15 Consolation prizes to the best competitors in the theory test; First, Second, Third, and 22 consolation prizes in the practical part. Students of Hoang Dieu High School (Soc Trang province) won the first prize of the whole group.
This activity aimed to create a playground to exchange academic knowledge, and earn experiences between high school students and teachers; high school teachers, students, and lecturers of TVU in the field of Chemistry. This competition also attached special attention to the career guidance for students.
On this occasion, Tra Vinh University welcomed more than 1,000 high school students and teachers in the Mekong Delta and organized a signing ceremony on vocational education for students between Tra Vinh University and regional high schools in the area.
