On November 24 and 25, 2020, the Faculty of Economics and Law of Tra Vinh University organized propaganda of law in the form of a mock trial at secondary schools and high schools in Hau Giang and Ca Mau provinces. This activity attracted the participation of hundreds of students.
Dr. Diep Huyen Thao, Deputy Director of Economics and Law Faculty of Tra Vinh University, said: “The mock trial is an annual activity of Tra Vinh University aiming to propagandize and educate law on some common crimes that often occur in social life, contributing to raising the sense of responsibility in preventing and fighting against illegal drug trafficking at schools, ensuring public security and order inside and outside the schools.” He hoped that this activity would spread to many places to create a playground for students in the Mekong Delta provinces.
The mock trial is performed in the form of theatricalization as a real case, with the content of the first-instance trial of a criminal case “Crime of illegal drug trafficking”. The “actors” in the trial skits are students from Tra Vinh University. With its appearance as a real trial, the mock trial brings lively and authentic propaganda to spread the message “For a peaceful life, say no to drugs”.
Mr. Huynh Ngoc Hau, Vice-Rector of Nguyen Trai Secondary School in Hau Giang province, shared that: “I feel highly honored with the consideration of Tra Vinh University for Nguyen Trai Secondary School. Through the propaganda, the students had a clearer view of law related to drug trafficking.”.
Also through the propaganda in Ca Mau, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Nguyen, Vice-Rector of Dam Doi High School, said: “The mock trial is a very meaningful practical activity. High school students are at a sensitive age in terms of behaviors and attitudes that they are easy to follow the seductions of bad people in society. The mock trial of Tra Vinh University is like a timely alarm to help them know the tricks of bad people as well as the penalty for misconduct, from that to create a common sense of prevention crime at schools and in society.
Nguyen Hoang Dat, a student of Class 6A2 in Nguyen Trai Secondary School, shared that: “I am very happy and excited to see the students of Tra Vinh University perform the trial today. Thanks to that, I understand more about the harms of drug trafficking, I will stay away from it and will propagate about the harmful effects of drugs on everyone around me.”
The organization of a mock trial of Tra Vinh University has been increasingly focused and received a strong response from people and students of the provinces in the Mekong Delta. It is expected that in the coming time, the mock trial will be organized in Kien Giang and Dong Thap provinces.
