TVU – A delegation led by Mr. Steven Starmans, Coordinator Projects and Research, Delta Areas and Resources, Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences, paid a visit to Tra Vinh University on 6 April, 2016 to look into possible co-operation in joint research, academic exchange and climate change adaption.
TVU’s representatives, composed of Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, the Vice- rector, Dr. Pham Kim Long, the Head of Science and Technology Department, Dr. Lam Thai Hung, the Dean of School of Agriculture and Aquaculture and other relevant offices, warmly welcomed the delegation.
On the behalf of Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences, Mr. Starmans expressed his interests in establishing joint research projects co-operated with TVU’s potential faculties and experts in fields of agriculture and fisheries as well as climate change adaption.
In-depth discussions on worrying issues of the widespread soil salification in Tra Vinh City and nearby areas in the Mekong Delta were also carried by the two sides. As a proposal to tackle such problems, Mr. Starmans suggested creating an academic forum for the exchange of professional knowledge and technology between staff of the two universities.
Representing for Tra Vinh University, Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung expressed his pleasure and confidence in further co-operation between the two sides in not only joint research programs on climate change but also more fields such as academic exchange.
