The two valedictorians with powerful energy and passion

After the university and college entrance exam in 2020, Thach Nhut Hao – a former student of Huynh Cuong Ethnic Minority Boarding School (Soc Trang), and Nguyen Khanh Bao Thuy Vy – an alumnus of Hoa Minh High School (Tra Vinh) excellently became the two valedictorians of Tra Vinh University in 2020 with a high total score – 27.25 points.

Sharing feelings, they were quite surprised when to be valedictorian of Tra Vinh University. Both believe that Tra Vinh University will make their dreams come true.

Thuy Vy: Touching her dream of standing on the podium

With a C00 total score of 27.25, Nguyen Khanh Bao Thuy Vy decided to choose Literature Pedagogy and became the new valedictorian of TVU.

Thuy Vy said: “When I know that I got the valedictorian, I was happy and directly informed my mother, teachers, and friends. Over the past few days, I received many compliments and congratulations. She remembered that when studying in 12th grade, I got sick, so I reserved the results for one year. Last year, when I returned to school, the teachers cared about me a lot. Since then, I can see the importance of teachers to students and how a teacher affects the young generation, causing me to be a good teacher, to contribute to the younger generation in the future.

When looking for careers at Tra Vinh University, Thuy Vy focuses on the disciplines of Pedagogy and Literature Pedagogy that she chooses to continue studying on the academic path.

Thuy Vy grows in a family of 4 siblings. The fatherless student since 10th grade has tried her best to overcome many difficulties and to study well so that her mother can be assured and help her mother improve their life. Years of hard study have helped her achieve many admirable achievements.

Proof of that effort, in 3 years of high school, Thuy Vy has always been a student with excellent achievement and ranked first in all grades each year. Besides, Thuy Vy is also an exemplary and dynamic Youth Union officer, taking on positions such as Member of the Youth Union Board of Hoa Minh High School, Secretary of the Class’s Youth Union, and received many certificates of merit in the activities.

The energetic valedictorian said: “Choosing any major requires passion. Because we have passion, we devote all our love and enthusiasm to that choice.”
In the future, Thuy Vy continues to pursue her dream of standing on her podium. During the learning process, she often participates in the TVU Union – Association activities to practice soft skills. After graduation, if having the chance, she may continue to a higher level.

Nhut Hao: Passionate about traditional musical instruments

Born and raised in Soc Trang province, Nhat Hao is a pure Khmer. From a young age, poor student Nhut Hao understood the importance of preserving and promoting the nation’s culture. Since then, a dream of musicians and traditional musical instruments is a dream of Thach Nhut Hao.

Nhut Hao said: “I have not a wealthy family. My father has to work as a helper or to do hired work. Therefore, in addition to going to school, I also help my mother raise chickens to help pay for the family.

Sharing about the reasons for choosing the Traditional Musical Instrument Performing, Nhut Hao said that he has started to approach traditional ethnic instruments since 7th grade. It is not only passion but also dedication to preserving and promoting the value of Khmer Southern art. Ethnic musical instruments play a significant role in the process of forming and developing folk music in ethnic minority areas.

He wants to understand deeply not only the traditional music of the nation but also many other kinds of music.

When asked about learning secrets, Nhut Hao humbly said: “My learning secret is quite simple that I started to review knowledge from the end of the 11th-grade year. I focused on listening to lectures in class and carefully review the textbook at home.
After having a solid foundation of knowledge, I started to solve mock exams based on illustrations by the Ministry of Education and Training. Two months before the exam, I do one to two exam questions each day. In the subjects, I spend a lot of time in Philology to master the knowledge in the textbooks. Moreover, I love to read books to reduce stress and practice memory faster.”

From continuous efforts and efforts, Nhut Hao and Thuy Vy not only achieved valedictorian at Tra Vinh University. Both students excellently received the scholarship “Upgrading the valedictorian step 2020”. The scholarships for new valedictorians and high-ranked students to enter universities and institutes in the country and have difficult circumstances of The Vietnam Youth Talent Support Fund (the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union) standing by Tien Phong Newspaper.

At the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, Tra Vinh University not only invests in equipment to serve the learning needs of students. TVU also mobilized 123 scholarships with a total value of nearly 1 billion VND for new students to overcome difficulties in studying and 270 million VND to support learning costs for students whose families have been affected by the recent 9th floods and storms.
