Tra Vinh University leads community blood donation efforts with record participation

Tra Vinh University launches its 2025 blood donation campaign with remarkable success, collecting nearly 250 units of blood during the “Thankful Vietnamese Bloodline” event. The university collaborates with Can Tho Hematology-Transfusion Hospital to organize this drive, which attracts strong participation from faculty and students. This achievement continues the university’s impressive 18-year tradition of promoting voluntary blood donation throughout the community.

The Youth Union and Student Association coordinate these efforts year-round, developing comprehensive plans that emphasize the humanitarian value and life-saving importance of blood donation to encourage widespread involvement.

The program transforms the university’s donation culture through regular events including “Red Sundays” and annual “Thankful Vietnamese Bloodline” campaigns. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Deputy Secretary of the University’s Youth Union and Vice President of the Student Association, explains that these consistent efforts collect 200-250 units per drive across 3-4 annual events. Students Pham Phan Phong Phu, a 2024 Information Technology major, describe their first donation experience as meaningful and rewarding, praising the warm support they receive from volunteers.

The university now boasts numerous exemplary donors, including Ms. Dao Nhu Thao from the Party Committee Office with 34 donations, Mr. Nguyen Van Tho from the College of Economics and Law (CEL) office with 32 donations, and students Vo Dac Quang and Nguyen Huu Nhut with 20 and 10 donations respectively.

The Tra Vinh provincial blood donation committee recognizes outstanding contributors at each event, presenting certificates of merit for milestone donations and special recognition from the Tra Vinh People’s Committee for donors reaching 20 contributions. These community service efforts earn the university significant acclaim, with the Student Association receiving four consecutive Excellent Competition Flags for student work achievements from 2020-2024 and ranking as the top-performing university in its competition group for two consecutive years.

Ms.Dao Nhu Thao, who began donating in 2008 despite her initial fear of needles, emphasizes how blood donation saves lives and represents young people’s responsibility to contribute to their community, while Nguyen Van Tho expresses pride and happiness in helping save lives through regular participation.
