Tra Vinh University works to train human resources in the Kingdom of Cambodia

TVU – From December 25 to December 29, 2023, a delegation from Tra Vinh University led by Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice-Rector, exchanges cooperation in human resource training with partners in the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The delegation includes Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Nguyen, Rector of the School of Economics and Law; Dr. Ngo So Phe, Rector of the School of Southern Khmer Languages ​​- Cultures – Arts and Humanity; Dr. Huynh My Phuong, Head of the Pre-University Faculty; Dr. Tran Kim Khanh, Deputy Head of the Department Assessment; Dr. Truong Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Director of Tra Vinh University Hospital; Ms. Chau Thi Truc Ly, Chief of the TVU Council Office; the International Cooperation Department and the International Admissions Office.

With the motto “Bringing quality learning opportunities to the community”, Tra Vinh University provides multidisciplinary, multi-field and multi-level training programs, creating favorable conditions for local people and domestic and neighboring countries to access an advanced learning environment and improve their qualifications. The university has 2 member schools and a Practice Teaching School, over 13 faculties, and institutes training more than 20,000 domestic and international students.

Since 2013, TVU has admitted and hosted Cambodian international students to study, many of whom have graduated and returned to work in localities in Cambodia. The university has nearly 100 Cambodian students and will admit more from Laos in 2024.

On December 25, at the meeting with Tbong Khmum province, Mr. Keo Vannak, Director of the Department of Health, said that the provincial government is always looking for cooperation opportunities to strengthen human resource training for the province, especially in healthcare and health. He hopes that after this working trip, the two sides will continue exchanging and move towards signing a memorandum of understanding on human resource training, and technical skill improvement to serve the healthcare sector in the province.

Mr. In Pouv Sambath, Director of the Department of Education, Youth and Sports of Tbong Khmum province, realizes that students must study and research abroad in various fields. He hopes the two sides will develop an effective cooperative relationship, so more and more students in Tbong Khmum can come to study at Tra Vinh University in different majors.

On December 26, the delegation worked with the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) to discuss the implementation of the signed MOU with contents including lecturer and student exchange; coordination in organizing conferences and workshops in vocational education; Collaboration in training, scientific research and technology transfer.

On December 27, at the meeting with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, H.E Touch Visalsok, Minister of State, affirmed his strong support for Tra Vinh University to expand cooperation with institutes and universities in Cambodia on training, scientific research, enrollment… At the same time, he expressed his gratitude to Tra Vinh University for granting many scholarships for Cambodian students to study at the university, especially in health sciences.

Also on December 27, through the introduction and connection of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Tra Vinh University worked with the University of Health Sciences (UHS). Prof. Dr. Saphonn Vonthanak, President and leaders of departments welcomed the delegation. Prof. Saphonn Vonthanak said that he was very impressed with the diversity of training majors at Tra Vinh University and the number of training programs accredited by international quality standards. He welcomed the visit and looked forward to studying the possibility of signing an MOU on training cooperation, capacity building training, lecturer and student exchange.

On this occasion, the delegation visited and worked with Chenla University and RCRC Training Center (December 27). The two sides discussed the implementation of activities based on the signed MOU, aiming at short-term training cooperation according to needs and undergraduate and postgraduate training programs; Creating opportunities for experts from both universities to participate in teaching, guiding, evaluating theses/dissertations, and conducting joint scientific research. Especially, in January 2024, Chenla University and RCRC Training Center will send a delegation including lecturers, experts and students to visit, and exchange experiences at Tra Vinh University.

On December 28, the delegation worked with the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP). Mr. Phal Des, Vice Rector welcomed the delegation. The two sides discussed the possibility of cooperation in lecturer and student exchange, co-supervision of thesis/dissertation, cultural exchange, and organizing conferences/workshops.

On December 29, the delegation worked with Svay Rieng provincial leaders including H.E Peng Posa, Governor, H.E Touch Polyva, Vice Governor and representatives of the Departments of Health and Education, Youth and Sports. The Governor hoped that Tra Vinh University will continue to coordinate with the province in human resource training in various fields. The provincial government continues to support the university in career counseling, connecting with provincial agencies to implement cooperation opportunities. In particular, Tra Vinh University coordinates with Svay Rieng province to open Vietnamese language classes for officials and public employees in Svay Rieng province in the coming time.

At the end of the working trip, Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector highly appreciated the efforts that Tra Vinh University and its partners have made in cooperation so far while affirming that the university wishes to cooperate in human resource training, scientific research, technology transfer… with partners based on mutual benefit. Over the years, the university has strengthened international cooperation, creating a multicultural and internationally integrated learning and working environment, promoting its role as a national center for training in Khmer language, culture and arts, aiming to carry out diverse training tasks with neighboring Cambodia, Laos.
