In a groundbreaking development for environmental education in Vietnam, Tra Vinh University (TVU) and Saxion University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands) forge a strategic partnership that promises to revolutionize academic exchange and scientific research opportunities.

The collaboration, launched in early 2025, features an exclusive internship program that enables two outstanding TVU students to spend five months at Saxion, supported by the prestigious Erasmus+ scholarship. Under the mentorship of Professor Harry Futselaar, Head of International Water Technology at Saxion, and Dr. Tran Thi Ngoc Bich, Deputy Director of the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology at TVU, students engage in cutting-edge research projects.
The research portfolio encompasses innovative initiatives, including the BluElephant compact wastewater treatment system, smart farming solutions through Aquaponics/Hydroponics/PLANT, the data-driven water management system PUMP it UP!, and the sustainable urban development project UrbAqua. These projects represent academic exercises and practical solutions to contemporary environmental challenges.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in Vietnam-Netherlands scientific cooperation, opening doors for knowledge exchange and technological advancement in environmental studies. The program is a testament to both institutions’ commitment to nurturing the next generation of environmental scientists and engineers.
