The mock trial lasted about 90 minutes adjudicating a criminal case on illegal possession of narcotics. The chairperson, juror, clerk, lawyer and accused were played by TVU law students.

Student Phan Thanh Trong Van, Medical Laboratory Class said: “Although it is a mock trial, it provides us much knowledge of law and I am interested in the process of debating of the lawyer”.

“The trials held by our School foster TVU academic affairs and help students put knowledge into practice as well as equip with the necessary skills including how to present problems, defend viewpoints and etc. The School will work closely with Lawyers Associations and Courts to expand such a practical trial to high schools to popularize law to students”, said lecturer Phan Minh Gioi, Vice Head of Law Department.

Along with being interested in each episode of the case, the participants were attracted by the procedures of opening, questioning, debating and sentencing with the profound and rigorous arguments of the prosecutor, the logical pleas of the lawyer, and the transparency and justice of the trial panel.
