Hanoi – On the occasion of the World Book Day, the Embassy of Canada and Nha Nam Culture and Communication JSC today announced the visual arts competition based on the novel ‘Life of Pi’ by Canadian author Yann Martel. The competition is open to people aged 15 to 25 years old who after reading the book or watching the film ‘Life of Pi’ visually express the central messages or themes from the book or the film.   The annual CamTESOL conference plays an important role in highlighting research into the teaching of the English language in the region and around the world.  Many research-based papers, after being presented at CamTESOL, are submitted for consideration for publication in Language Education in Asia (LEiA).  LEiA is a peer-reviewed online journal, inspired by the annual CamTESOL conference series. As in previous years, IDP Education is again coordinating sponsorship to create some research grants for delegates to the 2013 conference. The grants are to support delegates who wish to pursue research that will be written up and presented at the 2014 conference and then submitted for consideration for publication in LEiA.  The next round of grants will be made available to nationals of the following countries: Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines and Indonesia. PRESS RELEASE:   Fulbright U.S. – ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program 2013   HANOI, November 5, 2012 - Mission Vietnam seeks outstanding candidates to become Fulbrighters by participating in the 2013 Fulbright U.S. – ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program.  We seek university faculty, foreign ministry and government officials, and professional staff of think tanks and other organizations in Vietnam to travel to the U.S. for scholarly and professional research for 3-4months on issues relevant to ASEAN and its relationship to the United States.   We seek talented Vietnamese citizens in the fields of Education, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Food Technology, Geography, Geology, Information Sciences, Journalism, Law, Life Science, Management Information Systems, Museum Studies, Political Science, Public Administration, Public/Global Health, Religious Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Statistics, and TEFL & Applied Linguistics to participate in the program, marking 35 years of partnership between ASEAN and the United States.  The deadline for applying is November 16, 2012.   Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton supports this initiative to deepen people-to-people engagement and strengthen education ties better between the U.S. and ASEAN countries. The University of Greenwich assists in postgraduate study leading to a research degree through the award of scholarships and studentships. These scholarships provide a financial stipend for three years (subject to satisfactory progress) at an amount equal to that paid by Research Councils UK. Also, tuition fees will be waived up to a maximum amount equivalent to the university’s home/EU tuitions fee for MPhil and PhD students. Based on applications received for the PhD programme by 29th June 2012, the Law Faculty at University College Cork will be offering a limited number of studentships to support full-time PhD studies in the Faculty. These will be valued from €12,000 to €15,000 per annum (including fees). The studentships are tenable for up to 3 years, although renewal each year is contingent on demonstration of adequate progress. A detailed research proposal is required for all applications, and students are advised to make contact with a potential research supervisor in advance of applying.
These scholarships include return air-fare between Vietnam and the place of study, tuition fees and a monthly stipend. Accommodation will be provided by the host institution free of cost. Under this programme the nominee is eligible for training or a visit to India on not more than one occasion. The Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) application and selection process is open, competitive, and transparent. The VEF Fellowship provides financial support, which is cost-shared by U.S. universities, for a graduate degree program in the United States in the fields of sciences (natural, physical, and environmental), engineering, mathematics, medicine (including public health), and technology (including information technology).  By March 28, nominees must provide documentation of unconditional official graduate admission to a VEF Alliance School or to another appropriate U.S. graduate program that accepts the terms of VEF financial support.
